Adding More To Salt
It’s really wonderful and amazing how sometimes God reinforces a message that He wants me to remember and keep in my heart.
Just a couple of days ago, I was telling Michelle about how I came to write the piece on being the salt of the earth as our Lord Jesus Christ said those who follow Him are to be.
And today, while doing some belated reading of the many Christian blogs I love, I came across this poem that Hummie shared.
Though she said not to credit her as the material wasn’t written by her, I must give her due credit for sharing it, because it spoke directly to me and reminded me about being the salt of the earth and making a difference.
Brighten Your Corner
We cannot all be famous
or be listed in “Who’s Who”,
But every person, great or small,
has important work to do.
For seldom do we realize
the importance of small deeds,
Or to what degree of greatness
unnoticed kindness leads.
For it’s not the big celebrity
in a world of fame and praise,
But it’s doing unpretentiously
in an undistinguished way.
The work that God assigned to us,
unimportant as it seems,
That makes our task outstanding,
and brings reality to dreams.
So do not sit and idly wish
for wider, new dimensions
where you can put into practice,
your many good intentions.
But at the spot God placed you
begin at once to do,
Little things to brighten up
the lives surrounding you.
If everybody brightened up
the spot where their standing,
By being more considerate,
and a little less demanding.
This dark old world would very soon
eclipse the evening star,
If everybody brightened up
the corner where they are!
Amen!
I also found this song “Legacy” by Nichole Nordeman that is yet another source of inspiration!
Footnote: I know this song might sound a little “me-me” as in it’s much about leaving one’s legacy behind instead of glorifying God through the good works. Then I looked up, and today’s verse of the day was simply this
“Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
God is just that amazing, isn’t He?!

Well, praise God for you because you are amazing! I love Nicole’s song and it is good that you point out that nothing is about us, but that everything is about God. The legacy I leave is that of belief in Jesus Christ…and I would hope that my example is passed down through the generations.

Greetings, Hummie!
You are too kind, really. All I want to do is share my thoughts and hopefully glorify God and spread the love of Christ Jesus through my posts.
Amen to that!
I also believe we all have an opportunity to share and pass on our legacy to the next generation and thereafter. I don’t have children, but I hope to do so through people I come across and those that I have an opportunity to help.
