Are We To Observe The Kashrut?

KashrutI have been reading chapters 10, 11 and 15 of Acts over and over again in relation to the debate on circumcision that has been going on in the follow-up to my post on the visit to Hephzibah Christian Fellowship just last Shabbat.

The reason for the repeated readings?

To ascertain for myself if indeed we need to observe the Kashrut, or Jewish dietary laws as Christians.

But Your God Isn’t Merciful, Else…

Parting the WatersHow often we hear this phrase uttered by those who seek to discredit Yahweh and throw a spanner into the cogs of our faith?

How often do we hear that if Yahweh were indeed merciful, then He would have allowed for this or that, or even for non-believers to enter into heaven?

I am sure that for many Christians who have tried sharing the Good News, the common answer would be “too many times”.

Oh My, I Have Received An Award!

Just a little more than three months back, when I started blogging and decided to share the Word of God through blogging, I never expected that one day I would actually receive an award for doing so.

For certainly I wasn’t looking to receive accolades of any kind, but just to share my perspective on issues from a Christian point of view.

So it comes as a huge but very pleasant surprise that I’ve been given the mathetes Excellence in Discipleship award by one of the Christian bloggers I admire most — Dan King over at “management by God“!

In the spirit of this award, I have to choose five other Christian brothers and sisters most deserving of this accolade (I wish I had the choice to choose more than five though, lol!).

Trust me, it wasn’t easy selecting just five for the award, since I think that all the blogs in my Christian Fellowship blogroll are totally deserving of one accolade or another for having touched my life and walk with God in so many wonderful ways!

Rules are rules, though, so after agonizing over my decisions for a good hour or so, I present you my list:

My love to you all!

Please feel free to pass the award on to others you feel deserving of it. I just ask that as you do so, please remember to refer to Dan’s instructions for awarding the accolade.

Shalom Aleichem.

Everything Else Pales In Comparison

The BibleFor the past few weeks, I have been picking up the Bible and reading it again, starting with the New Testament at Matthew.

And I can honestly tell you that it’s a brand new experience when you read the Bible again with a closer relationship with Yahweh.

You see, I never considered myself to have read the entire Bible.

When You Ask "Why Me, Oh Elohim?"

Nick VijucicJust this Sunday I found out that Nick Vijucic spoke at City Harvest Church the previous weekend, and decided to check if there was a video of the service.

Now, I don’t bother with checking out City Harvest Church normally, since I don’t buy into their mega-church prosperity gospel, or their rock concert-grade performances, or seeing pastors with dyed hair, but I just had to give a listen to what Nick Vijucic had to say.

In case you know not who Nick is, he is an Australian who was born without limbs — no arms nor legs — save for a foot that he calls his “chicken drumstick”. Instead of giving up on life, he surmounted all of life’s difficulties with faith in Yahweh and is today sharing the Good News and being an immense inspiration to millions around the world.

Speed Linking — Week Of 16 Sep 2007

Sunflower My apologies that this little regular column of mine for every Sunday is a little late, but due to the bad case of the migraine yesterday I haven’t been able to do much.

As they say, better late than never, so for this week, I am going to share three of my list of “Best Newly-Discovered Blogs”, in no particular order.

Jerusalem Watchmen has become one of my favorite pro-Israel Christian blogs to read ever since I read his commentary on the Kassam rocket hitting an IDF training base. I particularly enjoyed his piece on Jimmy Carter’s accusation in his book that Israel was an apartheid state.

If you have a good sense of humor and a love for evangelism, you might just fall in love with Guerilla Evangelism as much as I have. According to the blog’s authors, the blog is about “… the unconventional means with which one person or a small group of Christians use mobile tactics to spread the word of Christ.” For now, there are a few great photos, of which my favorite is this.

Last, but not least, I have Robert to thank for pointing me to “The Bible Thumper’s Soapbox” and Carol’s forum. Before you check out the blog, beware Carol’s warning about her blog: “A place for Christians to talk about anything be it Bible studies, concerns or rants. I have no tolerance for today’s watered down version of Christianity. If you are charismatic, seeker sensitive, homosexual supporting, pre-tribber, OSAS adherent, Sabbath denying, mega-church hippie Christian, then you WILL NOT like this site.”

Shalom Aleichem.

The Head Aches, The Eyes Too

Migraine!Ouch, I’ve been hit by a bad case of the migraine which is leaving me rather silent on the blog, and for that I apologize.

I have never ever experienced such a bad case of the migraine before in my life! The entire head is throbbing and my eyes start getting painful under bright light.

Even downing two painkillers didn’t do any good. I can’t just get to a pharmacy to get aspirin because of a blood condition I have that makes me allergic to quite a number of off-the-shelf medication.

It’s subsiding a little and I am at work now, but I’d like to apologize for the silence over Sunday till now.

Thank you to everyone who has left a comment on my last post; I’ll respond to them by this evening if the migraine continues to subside.

God bless, and Shalom!
