Though in past years I’ve made quite a few new year resolutions, I am not in the habit of making them nowadays.
The chief reason is that I have never been able to keep one well for an entire year. I believe the longest period of time I’ve kept one is about three months or so, and I am quite certain the actual duration might be a lot shorter.
So why make resolutions that I know I can never keep, eh?

Just a day more, and soon the new year will be upon us.
What has 2007 been like for you? What has 2007 brought about in you? These are questions I’m sure most of us would ask ourselves either today or the eve of the new year. And I’m sure that there’d be many who will be making new year resolutions too.

I’d like to first apologize for the silence over the past few days. Everything’s fine, but I’ve run into one of the worst walls a blogger can bang into, i.e. blogger’s block.
It’s not like I’ve got nothing to blog about — there’s tons of material I’ve got in reserve, but my brain can’t seem to juice out anything good in terms of a coherent sentence or paragraph. So, rather than waste your precious time reading bad posts, I thought it better not to post at all.
I’m sure you’ll agree that’s a rather wise decision, eh?
Anyhow, what juiced me up a little (and hence this post) was this little report about how the missing link between whales and land animals might have been found.

There are many who don’t believe that December 25 is the day on which Christ Jesus was born more than 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem, Israel.
They are not wrong.
For even many discerning Christians recognize this, and know that Christmas was birthed out of a pagan winter observance.
So when was Christ Jesus’ birth?

This was my morning reading a couple of days ago, and the last verse, verse 24, stirred in me the need to share it and my thoughts on this with you.
Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ! — assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

It’s quite an amazing thing to wake up one day, look at your spouse, and realize that both of you have been married for 10 years.
Because when you think about it, 10 years is a long time, isn’t it?
There we were, young ‘kids’ fresh out of school for no more than three years or so (I was 27, and she 24), committing to each other for life on 19 December 1997 not knowing much about the journey we’d undertake together.
Looking back on the past decade, we’ve had our share of fights, difficulties, disappointments, joys, and triumphs. Along the way, we bought our own abode, tried to have a child (without success, fortunately in some ways but that’s another story), and most importantly, learned what marriage really means and entails.
And after all these years, it’s still amazing that we still possess those little qualities that spice up our daily lives, like how we still have that spark, that ‘psychic’ connection with each other, and all those little weird and idiosyncratic things we do that identifies us as a married couple indeed.
Above all, we thank God that we still love each other deeply and are able to do so because of His mercy and grace.
With lots and loads and oodles and tons of love…
