The Parables Of Christ Jesus: A Series

Prodigal SonI love the parables that our Lord Christ Jesus taught in the Bible. I love that the parables are such simple stories that teach so much about the kingdom of God.

Why did our Lord Jesus Christ teach using parables?

By teaching in parables, two prophecies were fulfilled — one is Isaiah 6:9-10, and the other in Psalm 72:2. The fact that both prophecies were fulfilled was also recorded in the Gospels.

Non-Biblical Teachings Of Kong Hee (City Harvest Church)

City Harvest ChurchForeword: this is a word out to Christians out there, and please understand that I do it in all love as I care about your salvation and what you’re learning from church. Sure, I might not know you from Adam, but my concern for you as a brother or sister-in-Christ compels me to write this even as I know it might draw a ton of flak.

Listen to me, and listen well: if you desire a true relationship with God and a real Christian walk, stop listening to the filth that is coming out of that pulpit at City Harvest Church!

This is my personal comment on the teachings of the pastor Kong Hee, after watching his sermon presented this morning (Sunday, January 6, 2008) via the net.

A Leper Shows Us How To Ask

Indian Leper CommunityDuring His ministry on earth, our Lord Jesus Christ cleansed a good number of lepers as recorded in the Gospels. Perhaps the best-known and oft-preached story of such cleansings is in the account of the 10 lepers (Luke 17:11-19).

In fact, the Hebrew word in the Masoretic texts for leprosy is tzaraath, which is an incurable condition worse than leprosy.

A person with tzaraath will experience inflammations, rashes, swellings and boils. Wool, linen or leather (common materials for clothing then) vestments put on him will also become infected. In other words, someone with tzaraath will not be able to cover his shame (for it is regarded as punishment for sins) and will be ostracized.

Ooh, This Just Makes Me So Mad!

Joel OsteenI get both really riled up and sad at the same time whenever I hear or read of those who profess to be serving God fleece gullible people out of their hard-earned money while giving them false promises.

Oh, you wolves in sheep’s clothing! Woe to you!

Just read about this poor woman — Cindy Fleenor’s a 53-year-old accountant, someone smart by academic standards anywhere in the world, and she’s been conned into writing so many checks to these wolves in the shape of Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer and Paula White that she has to borrow money from friends and payday loan companies just to buy groceries!

And when the promises didn’t come about (of course they didn’t, because they are false!), she learned that it was because her faith wasn’t strong enough.

Is it any wonder that she’s now bitter and angry? And the worse thing is that this episode might just push her away from God and she loses the real promise — salvation — because of the misdeeds of these wolves!

Hating Sin

Hating SinWe are all taught that God is love, and that’s all we seem to hear very often nowadays, from the pulpits down to bumper stickers. Yet, very few people remember to remind themselves that above all, God is holy!

Oh, we all get that fuzzy feeling that God loves us despite of all our shortcomings, but that’s a dangerous road because that leads to us continuing to sin while the back of your mind tells you that if you confess, God shall forgive.

Because, top and foremost, God absolutely hates sin because He is holy! And if you cannot grasp this concept, and put it above all the bumper sticker messages of “God is love” or “God loves you”, then you will never ever be able to follow the Apostle Peter’s exhortation to be holy as our God is holy.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:14-16

To start off, do you know how much God hates sin? Let me just give you some examples.

Oh, That I Be A Man Of God For His Glory Alone, Not Mine!

Man in PrayerPerhaps there comes a time in your walk with God where you realize that maybe you have learned so much falsehoods or teachings that have been twisted in one way or another from church and even the most respected pastors and teachers, that you think that perhaps you haven’t really lived a real Christian life.

It’s not a real Christian life because you have not learned to be truly obedient, nor truly submit yourself to God’s will. It’s not a real Christian life because you think that being subject to God’s will is just trying to do what is taught in the Bible and have the faith that God shall answer your prayers, and thinking to yourself that you’ve asked them in accordance to God’s will.

And to think that you’ve been dissing the prosperity gospel when you yourself are living it! Because the prosperity gospel in its essence is about you, you, and you!

Because, when you pray, don’t you say “Oh, Lord, bless me” with this or that, a job, a wife, a girlfriend/boyfriend, and whatever that your heart desires, you preach within yourself the prosperity gospel!
