Thinking Blogger, Moi?

Rodin's ThinkerDan at BibleDude.net has been most kind to award me with this Thinking Blogger Award for being ‘relevant and interesting’.

Frankly, I never thought I would deserve such an award because I just put down whatever was on my mind. Admittedly, those thoughts are most often a result of a bad case of insomnia which strikes quite often — when I toss and turn in bed unable to sleep because my mind is in overdrive.

At least now you get another insight into how I tick.

As with every award, there are some rules governing it:

  1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
  2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
  3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’.

Thinking Blogger Award

Thank you, Dan, it’s an honor for me to receive this award! I now pass it on to the following great blogs that make me think:

Congratulations, everyone, and thank you for all your blessings through your blogs!

Shalom Aleichem.

Tongues, Healing And Gifts Of The Spirit

Dancing in the SpiritThere’s an interesting debate going on in response to my post “Short Takes” that went up over the weekend on the issue of tongues, healing and the gifts of the Spirit.

I’m staying out of it for good reason, but I hope the brothers debating will do it in the spirit of brotherly love.

It is also interesting that Justin at Awesome Purpose wrote on the gift of tongues earlier in the week. I don’t believe in coincidences, so there must be something God is saying to us in the community that I’m in.

Anyhow, pertaining to my non-participation in the debate, you must be asking what good reason or reasons I have for not doing so by now.

I think it boils down to the fact that I think I am scarred in this aspect of my Christian walk.

The Sicarii Theme

Well, I finally got to modifying a theme I like to how I want it to look. Sure, it looks nothing as spectacular as Justin’s, which I really like, but hey! it’s my own effort and I think it looks better than the last one which I modified off Kubrick.

It’s got elements from some of the better themes which I have been able to mix and match into the CSS.

Short Takes

Losing A Taste For The World

The WeekendMy wife and I have just returned from a trip to one of the newest and largest shopping malls in Singapore — Vivocity — to turn in the set-top box and to cancel our cable TV subscription.

None of the shops there fascinated us at all, and nothing seemed to catch our fancies, save for buying three pieces of cake from a rather good confectionery called ‘Secret Recipe’ — tiramisu, chocolate-banana and another that has to do with chocolate as well.

In fact, my wife didn’t even bother to step inside her favorite shoe boutique because she said she just isn’t interested.

Consumerism no longer has a hold on us!

Grace To You Singapore

My wife was listening to some John MacArthur sermons this morning and we just found out that his ministry, Grace To You, has a presence in Singapore.

Yes!

Since hearing about it on Way of the Master Radio, we’ve been planning to get her the John MacArthur’s Study Bible, and we’ve decided to go with the leather-bound NAS version. It’s great since purchasing the same Bible from the United States would have cost S$2.50 more, and that’s before including shipping costs.

On The Downside…

Christian Wives Should Not See This!

Who would have thought that the joke that my wife always loves to use on me when I’d inevitably get lost while driving would have made it as a comic?

Yes, she’d always tell me that the reason why Moses was in the 40 years in the desert with the Israelites was because he, being a man, would not stop to ask for directions.

I don’t think I’m alone in this, am I? Not asking for directions is a manly trait that runs across all cultures, I say!

And I’m not about to become one of those sissy men culled into stopping the car and asking for directions just because my wife says so. Who cares if we are lost and petrol isn’t cheap anymore? We’ll get you there in time even though it does look like we’re horribly lost now.

Have a good laugh for the weekend, and Shabbat Shalom!

Footnote to the husbands out there: Heeding my tongue-in-cheek advice can land you in rather hot soup. Self-preservation behavior, including stopping the car to ask for directions, is highly recommended.
