We Are Wonderfully Made

The psalmist King David wrote

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.

Psalm 139:14-16

How right he was!

I have watched this video over and over again, just marveling at how much of what’s going in our bodies are miracles in themselves. The presenter called them ‘amazing’ but they are more than ‘amazing’ for me; they are miracles!

Last Week’s Best Reads

I’m back with another installment where I share with you my favorite blog posts in the past week:

Have You Been To The Church Of “O”?

Oprah WinfreyAre you a Christian woman or man who is intently following Oprah Winfrey’s series on The New Earth or even A Course in Miracles? Well, stop!

You’re listening to a woman who “took God out of the box” and thinks that God is “jealous of me” in her own words! Instead of finding out for herself what that word ‘jealous’ means, she goes on a search for something “more than doctrine” then lands herself right smack into the occult teachings of people like Marianne Williamson and Eckhart Tolle.

She’s just full of herself, really. As my wife pointed out, if she could interpret “jealous God” as “God is jealous of me”, we all know just who she is centered on! And now, she’s misleading millions down a slippery slope that ends in a plunge into the bottomless pit called HELL.

Just Stop It Already!

New York Stop Sign by Stew DeanSome years back, a brother visited his pastor to seek counseling for a matter that’s been weighing on his soul for some time — he just couldn’t resist doing certain things that he knew displease the Lord. Without fail, he would go through this full range of the most self-pitying emotions and come lament to me just what a failure he was.

The pastor counseled him on numerous occasions, and peace would reign for a few weeks before the whining started again.

On one such occasion, the pastor of the church was away, so the pastor from a sister congregation stood in for him. When the brother was done with the counseling session, he was fuming, muttering over and over to himself just what a lousy pastor that man was.

Surprised that the counseling session only took five minutes instead of the normal hour, I asked him what happened.

Persevering To The End

My thanks go out to Sidharth of Imrah Ministries and Understand Cancer for his kindness in awarding this blog with the Perseverance Award.

Perseverance Award

The Perseverance award is to “… acknowledge those bloggers who have invested their very life in their blogs so as to encourage, build and warn others.”

Hm… that sounds like I’ve got no life outside of blogging, but hey! though I don’t like to admit it, it’s quite true (to an extent)!

Jokes aside, it is now my honor to pass it on to the following seven people:

  1. Hannah, for very, very good reasons.
  2. Channel of Healing, for her wonderful uplifting pieces that always encourage.
  3. Graham (I just love how he writes), and this award is for you, mate, for persevering to deliver those lovely posts of yours despite your recent issues with the computer.
  4. Bobo B’Nai for persevering to deliver the Truth though he thinks only a handful read his blog.
  5. Michelle, not just for her blog, but I admire her perseverance and her spirit. Her lovely daughter Jacqui is going through a rough patch of late, so please pray for Jacqui and Michelle!
  6. Lance, for persevering though he had some issues at work recently.
  7. King’s Kid, for authoring not just one, but three blogs (that I know of) that exhort and teach the Truth.

The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Amen.

Shabbat Shalom.

Bible Rewrite Includes Binge-Drinking Goliath And Sex-Obsessed Adam

David and GoliathGoliath was a celebrity binge drinker, and Adam was obsessed with Eve’s naked body — according to a retelling of traditional Bible stories by an Anglican vicar.1

The Must Know Stories, written by the Rev Robert Harrison, feature a reworking of the top ten Bible stories, which were chosen in a poll by the Christian charity Scripture Union.

In the book, the tale of David and Goliath is retold from the perspective of the giant, portrayed as a “depressed alcoholic” who is hung over on the day of his fateful encounter with David.

The Seven Churches In Revelation

RevelationI have never really studied the warnings given to the seven churches in Revelation in depth. Neither have I held strongly to a view whether these warnings were meant to just be given to the seven churches that were present during that time, or if that they also point to warnings to future churches.

Some believe that, under the light of Biblical prophecy, these warnings are to each of the different spiritual conditions throughout the Church Age, while others believe that they indicate actual periods of time when each church had a particular spiritual condition.

It was on this last theory — the period-condition view — that I began my study and research in the past few days.
