Short Takes — More Opra-heresy, An Excellent April Fool’s Post, Biblical Prophecy, Ecumenism, And More…
Oprah Winfrey and her good friend Eckhart Tolle continue to lead more than two million down the wide open road to destruction while unashamedly twisting Scripture along the way.
I’m calling this phenomenon Opra-heresy from here on.
On a related note, there’s a new book out called Don’t Drink The Kool-Aid that exposes the spiritual deception extolled by Oprah Winfrey, Marianne Williamson (A Course in Miracles) and Eckhart Tolle. The book is available in paperback and for immediate download as an e-book.
I haven’t perused much of the book myself though since there’s not much available at the web site in the form of excerpts. Pity, that.
Happy Atheists’ Day (April 1)
The post isn’t an April Fool’s Day joke, but The Pilgrim over at Reformation Nation had a great post on April Fool’s Day pointing out the foolishness of many who can without a doubt tell you that there’s a great architect who designed a building, would otherwise point to the complexity of the human body and say that we came to exist by chance.
Prophecy Contained in Psalm 83
GraceThruFaith.com has a very interesting write-up on the prophecy contained in Psalm 83 which gives quite a good plausible look, with an eye on current events in the Middle East, on what might take place in the near future.
Great read, and recommended for those with an interest in Eschatology.
Ecumenism Alive And Well In Singapore
In a story filed 24 July, 2007, Catholic News, the official newspaper of the Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore carried this story:
Jesuit Father Thomas Michel, an expert in Islamic affairs and current Ecumenical Secretary for the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences, told about 100 lay and religious representatives from parishes, Catholic schools and institutions that “… other religions are not rivals to the church or instruments of Satan, but paths of salvation.”
In the same seminar, Michel also illustrated how “God can be discovered in other faiths by focusing on selected scriptures from various faith traditions and highlighting the main concepts of each religion.”
Now, I mean no offense, but if I were to take some Roman Catholics at their word that they read the Bible on a daily basis or have even read it cover-to-cover a number of times, they’d be rejecting this outright, because Christ Jesus clearly stated that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no man goes to the Father but by Him (John 14:6)!
It’s therefore quite disturbing to read a quote from Randall Ng, a Franciscan novice Brother, saying, “Shows how much we have in common with each other. I enjoyed the prayers from the other religions and am able now to appreciate the spirituality behind the prayers.”
I have one word for Roman Catholics who truly love God: FLEE!

Calvinism/Arminian Online Live Streaming Debate (James White vs. Steve Gregg)
Some of my regular readers have been debating rather heatedly on Calvinism after I posted that video of Dr. Robert A. Morey asking the question if God truly loves everybody.
It looks like there’s just an on-going series of debates between James White and Steve Gregg on these issues! The debate is still on-going and will be continuing for another three days, and you can catch the debate “live” and catch up with the two-day archive here.
Favorite Sermon of the Week
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love this sermon by John Piper titled The God of Peace Brought from the Dead the Good Shepherd:
“God intended from before the foundation of the world that you and I and all people, from the greatest to the least, would always be sheep. His purpose from the beginning and for all time is that all human beings would always be sheep in need of a Shepherd. He never intended that we would be sheep for a season and then cease being sheep and become something less needy, less dependent. We will always be sheep by God’s design.”

Charlton Heston Dies, Aged 84

One of my favorite actors, Charlton Heston, who played Moses in The Ten Commandments and who also starred in one of my all-time favorite movies Ben Hur, passed away today (Sunday, 6 April 2008) at the age of 84.

Lingerie And Condoms For the Dead?!
It’s a Chinese tradition to burn paper representations of money and other daily necessities for one’s dead relatives and ancestors so that they might have a good “life” in the afterworld.
The traditional items include money (or “hell notes” as they are called here), clothes, houses and so on. Of late, some modern appliances have found their way into this afterworld as well when people started burning paper replicas of things like notebook computers, massage chairs and even mobile phones.
It now seems like sex is also on the minds of those in this afterworld because some have even offered replicas of condoms (whatever for, really?!) and sexy lingerie!
I don’t mean any disrespect to those who truly believe in this tradition, but I have never once believed in it because I just don’t see how paper replicas burned to ashes can become the actual items in the afterworld. Besides, I don’t think I relish the thought of buying lingerie for any of my female ancestors or relatives…
Interviews
The WarAnalyst over at The Warfare Journal has an interesting series of interviews with some bloggers soliciting their thoughts on a variety of issues. So far, quite a few on his list have responded and make for very interesting reads.
Yes, I know I’m a little late, brother, but I’ll reverting soon, so I guess I’ll stop here and get to that!
