Foreword: I thought I’d give a little background into how this testimony came about, because it simply demonstrates how often God works wonderfully in us and there’s only goodness when we submit to His will.
For some days now, my wife has told me that she hasn’t been able to sleep well because God has prompted her time and again to write her testimony down.
She asked me why, and I told her testimonies were a good way for us to glorify God through telling others what He has made anew in us. As to why God is telling her to do so I am not sure, yet we need trust that the Lord has need for her to do something that has not been revealed, but it’s all good (Romans 8:28).
We had retired rather late to bed last night. Just 15 minutes later, she was out of bed, and the study light came on while her computer whirred to life. When I popped into the study to ask why she wasn’t in bed, she was quite in tears, telling me that God had admonished her for not submitting to His will, right after prayers.
She had been fighting the burden in her heart to write her testimony down, believing wrongly that it’s rather pointless.
It was the first time she had experienced such a prompting, so I gently told her that that’s what God does with me many, many times over — a feeling so heavy in one’s heart that you go on your knees and cry out saying, “Father, Lord, I’ll obey and do it!”
I made coffee for us and stayed up with her while she completed her testimony which we are now sharing with you. May it encourage and bless you as it has us.
Yes, yes, I know the fact that I don’t have any children doesn’t escape you, so what am I doing talking about sharing the Gospel with one’s child(ren)?
The upside is that it’s not me that’s doing the teaching, but a pastor, Emeal Zwayne, whom I think did such a great job of sharing it with his children that I decided to record the portion they played at Way of the Master Radio and share it with you.

What would I do if I had children of my own, you ask?
I’d probably tell them from a young age that I don’t really mind if they don’t become doctors or teachers or professionals or whatever career that’s popular in their time, but that I desire that they be men and women of God first and foremost.
I think that’s the best motivation ever — that in whatever they do they first glorify God.

Who would have thought that the joke that my wife always loves to use on me when I’d inevitably get lost while driving would have made it as a comic?
Yes, she’d always tell me that the reason why Moses was in the 40 years in the desert with the Israelites was because he, being a man, would not stop to ask for directions.
I don’t think I’m alone in this, am I? Not asking for directions is a manly trait that runs across all cultures, I say!
And I’m not about to become one of those sissy men culled into stopping the car and asking for directions just because my wife says so. Who cares if we are lost and petrol isn’t cheap anymore? We’ll get you there in time even though it does look like we’re horribly lost now.

Footnote to the husbands out there: Heeding my tongue-in-cheek advice can land you in rather hot soup. Self-preservation behavior, including stopping the car to ask for directions, is highly recommended.
It is a breath of fresh air to find that there’s actually a blog out there that specifically addresses sex in Christian marriages and the issues surrounding this aspect of marriage that most Christians and churches are not too willing to approach.
Perhaps it’s due to the Victorian hangover we are still having (what a long hangover, huh?) regarding sex in general.
